Tatung Company‘s Donation of 2 Sets of Solar Power / Water Withdrawal Systems
2014-11-11

The Chinese Expeditionary Force fought many battles during the 8-year long War of Resistance Against Japan, and performed heroically in the numerous battles fought in Burma. The battles won and immense casualties sustained left deep impressions amongst their contemporaries.

As Taiwan focused upon the overseas mission at the northern Burmese town of Myitkyina carried out by the Ministry of National Defense to bring the 56,000 valiant souls home to the National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine, a number of veterans who swore to defend the country to their dying breaths were living out their final years alone in northern Burma. Many of these veterans lived in solitude under destitute conditions. Offering these veterans support and dignity is a somber task that both the Taiwanese and Burmese government as well as civil groups should address immediately.

Since the beginning of 2014, the Taiwan-Burma Commercial and Cultural Exchange Association has acted in the spirit of humanitarianism, and made many arduous trips with the help of public support and overcame numerous difficulties. By the end of June 2014, a total of 14 discharged veterans have been found living in solitude in northern Burma. Association Director Mr. Yang paid each veteran a personal visit and humbly provided these old soldiers with various resources in the hopes of providing them with healthcare in the final years of their lives. It is hoped that the Association’s actions could encourage more to do the same and invite charitable individuals or groups to provide support as well.

We also hope that these actions could increase the scope of mutual exchange between Taiwan and Burma so that both countries could begin with the principle of humanitarianism and improve the harmony and success of cultural and economic exchange between our countries, and do our part in this special and meaningful act.

We sincerely wish that every charitable individual, corporation, or social group to contribute their efforts and donate to this Association’s account. We shall adhere to the highest levels of accountability and ensure that every donation is applied to where it is needed most and transform everybody’s love into powerful forces of support and care.
